YOUTH PROGRAM COORDINATOR, 8.5 hours per week

Job title:          Youth shared part time ministry coordinator

Location:         Deer Park United Church, Calgary

Reports to:      Minister of Worship and Congregational Resources, Council

SUMMARY

To provide and direct youth programming, with the ultimate goal of helping youth to come to know, love and serve God (also through Jesus Christ).  The individual will bring experience and also gain experience in running an effective youth ministry program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To plan and implement a Youth Drop-In event on a weekly basis, to run two hours on average
2. To be on site and work with youth in
   1. Community building
   2. Faith and values formation
   3. Fun activities
3. To involve youth in youth events in our presbytery, as applicable, or wider congregational events, such as church services or Family Camp
4. To work with the minister in planning events
5. To recruit volunteers to assist as needed
6. To liaise with and support the Sunday morning youth group

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience in youth ministry and related activities
2. Organisation and communication skills; have initiative
3. Ability to relate to youth
4. Willingness to share faith
5. Experience and knowledge of the United Church of Canada
6. Dependable, compassionate, energetic, flexible, cheerful, open, adaptable

ACCOUNTABILITY

1. Supervision by the minister
2. Accountable to Deer Park United Church through the Ministry and Personnel Committee

SALARY

$15.00 per hour
